🦅 Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men Hosts Open House 2026
Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men (FDA-YM) is proud to invite prospective students and families to its Open House 2026, taking place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 9026 Woodward Ave. (Door 10), Detroit, MI.
This exciting event offers families the opportunity to experience firsthand what makes FDA-YM a premier selective admissions school within Detroit Public Schools Community District. Attendees will have the chance to meet school leadership, connect with dedicated staff, and explore the academic and extracurricular opportunities that set FDA-YM apart.
Guests can look forward to school tours, program highlights, and on-site application support, making it easy for families to begin the enrollment process. The Open House will also feature information about FDA-YM’s signature Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Career Pathway, which provides students with hands-on experience in mapping, drone technology, and real-world STEM applications.
In addition to academics, FDA-YM continues to build strong scholar-athletes through its competitive athletic programs. The school proudly celebrates its Hurricane Hawks basketball team, who earned the title of 2026 MHSAA Division 4 Runner-Up, demonstrating excellence, discipline, and teamwork both on and off the court.
Families attending the Open House will also enjoy food and refreshments, creating a welcoming environment to engage with the school community.
The event will be hosted by Assistant Principal Lawrence Davis, who will share insights into FDA-YM’s mission of developing young men into leaders prepared for college, careers, and life.
